The Skin and Bone Story

Skin and Bone is the byproduct of two culinary and health fanatics, Eric and Joey. Their upbringing was in two very loud, but loving, mediterranean households where sardines were a staple food, not just for flavor but for health. As they came of age and became increasingly busy running their businesses, there was no time in the day to eat healthy - but they rediscovered the beauty of sardines after a late night dinner with Joey's dad and shortly became their top healthy, on the go meal. Just one problem, most of all the cans on the shelves were of sub par quality or packed in refined vegetable oils, completely counterproductive to health, and nothing like the childhood sardines he and Eric's family had.  One late night conversation led to another, and next thing they knew, they were traveling all over the world from the Middle East, to SouthEast Asia, and the Iberian peninsula to source the highest quality sardines in fresh extra virgin olive oil, like the ones back home. After months of sourcing, they settled on importing from Iberia, a region with a rich and prestigious history in canning. 

Unfortunately (or fortunately in this case), Joey got terribly sick over a plate of raw lamb, having to look over him for a few days, I spent lots of time on the balcony of our hotel, overlooking the stunning Mediterranean Sea. One day at sunset, I saw a fisherman casting his net into the ocean right while the sun was at the brink of the horizon. It was a moment that I will never forget. The stillness of the sea, the warmth of the sun, and the vibrant colors of the sky created a perfect mosaic in my mind. I got to drawing immediately
